Solon Simmons is a sociologist and professor of Conflict Resolution at George Mason University, and is the director of The Narrative Transformation Lab (TNT Lab) at George Mason University’s Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution. The Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution takes a systemic and collaborative approach to conflict resolution that aims to prevent violence and work toward inclusivity and social justice, and works with governments, educational institutions, and community organizations.
Simmons’ work has centered on conflict resolution. His 2020 book titled Conflict Resolution After the Pandemic: Building Peace, Pursuing Justice examined how the COVID-19 pandemic exasperated existing conflicts, globally, and created new ones. It explores the role of justice in sustainable peacebuilding processes, advocating for inclusive and participatory approaches that address the root causes of conflict and promote reconciliation.
