Sandra L. Faulkner is a professor of Communication, and the director of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at Bowling Green State University. Her research interests range from qualitative methodology, poetic inquiry, to connections among culture, identities, and sexualities among close relationships.
Sandra Faulkner’s work is creative and largely qualitative. This video describes her work with BGSU students during the COVID-19 pandemic, in an assignment designed to foster dialogue between long-term care residents and college students. Natural conversations gave way, which fostered positive relationships between the two groups. Interestingly, intergenerational connections were a goal of this project. This article refers to the fostering of multigenerational relationships as “communication-gerontology collaboration,” which is a form of community engagement. These two blog posts take on the science of relationships in unique ways: in feminism and its impacts on relationships, and in death and dying.
