Beth Godbee self-describes as an educator, writer, and former writing studies professor who currently offers public education courses and coaching opportunities. Her research, described on her website titled heart-head-hands.com, addresses social, racial, and environmental justice and rights.
From her website, “As an educator, I believe our fully embodied selves matter in the world. We can’t just think our way out of the incredible injustices, dehumanization, and wrongdoing that characterize everyday life. We must feel and act, too. This is where Heart-Head-Hands gets its name.”
In an Inside Higher Ed article on educator burnout (which I relate all too much to), Godbee articulates how “The language of “burnout” is a shorthand for being “burned up” by systemic injustice, including the accumulation of everyday microaggressions, presumed incompetence and other characteristics of white supremacy culture—all of which run throughout higher education.”
